Know the main historical stages of development of the subject area. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Geographical studies of individual continents and oceans require successful mastering of the previous courses "Fundamentals of meteorology", "Fundamentals of biogeography", "Research of relief and geological structure", "Fundamentals of hydrology and oceanology", "Geographical studies of soil and vegetation cover". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the formation of natural laws of geographic zoning and altitudinal belting. Possession of skills of analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction.
Course content
The study discipline "Geography of Continents and Oceans" is one of the basic ones in the preparation of bachelors in geography, which completes the block of mandatory disciplines on the study of the natural features of individual continents and oceans. The discipline contributes to the acquisition of orientation skills in space and time, allows to expand the geographical picture of the world. It is aimed at forming in students deep comprehensive knowledge about the peculiarities of the nature of individual continents and oceans. Special attention when studying the course is directed to the analysis of natural conditions and resources, the issue of preservation of flora, fauna and natural landscapes as a whole.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is carried out throughout the semester and during the examination session. Assignments are submitted at each seminar/practical session or at the time specified by the teacher; for works submitted after the specified deadline, the assessment is 60% of the maximum number of points. Tests (tests) are conducted after completion of the relevant topics during seminar/practical classes. Based on the results of the semester, the student receives a final grade according to the 100-point system, which is calculated as the sum of the grades for each of the two modules in the semester and the grades for the credit/exam.
