Prerequisites and co-requisites
In order to successfully complete the course, students must first master the disciplines: "Chinese language", "History of foreign literature (classical literature of the East)", "Linguistic studies" etc. They should also know the theoretical foundations of philological science (linguistics and literary studies) and cultural studies; to have the practice of translating Chinese text, the skills of literary and cultural analysis of original works.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to attract students to the literary and aesthetic values of China, to familiarize them with the peculiarities of the Chinese literary process of the 20th century. and the formation of their practical ability to analyze prose and poetic works of various genres.Abstract. Within the first part of the course "Trends and Movements of Chinese Literature of the 20th Century" 3 content modules are provided. Module 1 is focused on formation in the first half of 20th century new principles of writing poetry in China: romantic, realistic and symbolist directions of poetry of the May 4 Movement. Module 2 highlights the main trends in the development of Chinese prose in the 1st half of the 20th century, synthesis of Chinese and Western European literary phenomena, dominance of realist trends and social and everyday topics. Module 3 focuses on the birth and development of the Chinese spoken drama huaju in its individual and authorial interpretations. The discipline ends with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of organization of study: lectures, seminar classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, analytical report/presentation (research work), testing (blitz survey), modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall assessment consists of points received for the work during the semester (maximum – 100 points, minimum – 60 points) and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored less than 60 points in total for the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing unsupervised and laboratory works, essays, or, if necessary, write a control paper based on the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 1.3, LR 1.4., LR 2.1, LR 2.2, LR 4.2. Teaching and assessment is conducted in Ukrainian and Chinese. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
