Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the key theoretical positions of stylistics, poetics, literary studies, translation studies and traditional and new scientific paradigms of modern linguistics. To be able to collect and interpret information from the field of literary studies, poetics, linguistics; distinguish the original and universal features of the national language and culture. Students should possess the skills of linguistic-stylistic and artistic-aesthetic analysis of literary texts of various genres; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena; use of professional informative sources.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations of artistic translation and strategies for adequate translational reproduction of various literary works. Its subject is the problems of translating literary works and strategies for achieving the adequacy of literary translation. The goal is also to teach how to analyze Polish and Ukrainian texts for the purposes of further translation; improve the skills of interpreting texts of various genres and styles at the macro and micro levels; lay the foundations of Polish-language communication skills and Polish-Ukrainian translation; improve speaking training by using authentic Polish-language materials. The course introduces students to the current theories of artistic translation, the competences of the translator of an artistic text, translation hermeneutics, methods of reproduction of the author's expressive means in translation, national-cultural and chronological adaptation, and the specifics of the translation of various works of fiction.

Learning activities during the semester: Oral answers in practical classes (translation tasks); Preparation and oral compilation of individual thematic translator's glossaries;
intermediate control - translation of texts
Assessment methods and criteria
The maximum number of points during the semester is 60 points. In particular, semester assessment by forms of control:. Answer at a practical classe (consecutive interpretation, sight translation) - max. 30 points
