Learning outcomes
PRN 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the Polish language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PRN 9. Characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Polish language, describe the sociolinguistic situation.
PRN 14. To use Polish, English and Lithuanian languages in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres life.
PRN 20. Know the problems of modern Polonistics as a separate direction of Slavic studies and demonstrate a holistic system of professional knowledge that determines the social significance of the future profession.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the course requires knowledge of general linguistic terminology and terminology; knowledge of the basics of modern Polish grammar; mastery of basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at the level provided by the program.
Course content
As a result of studying this course, the student should know: the main theoretical provisions of the discipline (the concept of sound as a phenomenon at the level of articulation, acoustics and perception; the principles of classification of sounds of the modern Polish language; types of positional assimilation of sounds in the speech flow; the nature of Polish stress and the rules of stressing words in modern the Polish language; the concept of composition and the rules for dividing words into syllables; the principles of alternating consonants and vowels in the Polish language; the main provisions of phonology) the norms of correct pronunciation in the modern Polish language and the main differences between the Polish phonetic system and the Ukrainian one; be able to: conduct phonetic analysis and phonetic recording (transcription) of texts; read and understand Polish texts of various styles and varying degrees of complexity (according to the requirements for levels B1 according to the international classification of levels of knowledge of a foreign language); understand by ear Polish texts of various styles and varying degrees of complexity (according to the requirements for levels B2 according to the international classification of levels of knowledge of a foreign language); speak Polish on various topics, in accordance with a certain communicative situation (according to the requirements for levels B1 according to the international classification of levels of knowledge of a foreign language); create written texts of various styles, in accordance with a certain communicative situation (according to the requirements for levels B1 according to the international classification of levels of knowledge of a foreign language); translate texts from Polish into Ukrainian and vice versa.
