Learning outcomes
PRN 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the Polish language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PRN 9. Characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Polish language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PRN 14. To use Polish, English and Lithuanian languages in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres life. PRN 20. Know the problems of modern Polonistics as a separate direction of Slavic studies and demonstrate a holistic system of professional knowledge that determines the social significance of the future profession. PRN 21.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the course requires knowledge of general linguistic terminology and terminology; knowledge of the basics of modern Polish grammar; mastery of basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at the level provided by the program.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is the formation of students' Polish-language communicative competence as a set of knowledge, abilities and skills that ensure effective intercultural communication in oral and written forms; study of the patterns of emergence, functioning and development of the modern Polish language. Learning the modern Polish language takes place on the basis of the main provisions of the communicative approach to learning a foreign language using authentic materials and modeling real communicative situations. The principle of communicativeness is defined as the primacy of communicative goals within the four types of speech activity relative to the secondaryness of language-thematic material as the basis for the further formation of the ability to communicate.
