Learning outcomes
PLO 5. To cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, adherents of different political views, etc. PLO 18. To have skills in managing complex actions or projects when solving complex problems in the professional field activities in the field of Arabic Studies, as well as translation activities, and to be responsible for making decisions in the unpredictable conditions. PLO 21. To apply knowledge of linguistic and regional studies of the countries of Arab East, history of relations between Ukraine and the countries of the East. PLO 22. To understand the essence of Quranic studies as a philological discipline, to be able to read and analyze the texts of the Quran.

Course content
The purpose of the discipline is the comprehensive study of the role and significance of the Quran as the main religious and sacred text (ST) of the Muslim peoples, which laid the doctrinal foundations of the Arab philosophical worldview, the ideological, political and legal foundations of the functioning of the isalamic societies; creation of a holistic idea of the phenomenon of the sacred text in students and the formation of knowledge about the specifics of the language of the sacred Arabic texts; teaching students to read and translate sacred Muslim literature.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Students’ self-study involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, reading and translation of sacred texts.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral responses, written assignments, presentations – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 12/20 points, final control paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
