Learning outcomes
PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the national and foreign (Arabic and French) languages.
PLO 12. To analyze Arabic linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them.
PLO 14. To use Arabic and French in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of Arabic texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Arabic and Ukrainian).

Successful mastering of the disciplines Oriental language: intermediate level”, “Oriental language: advanced level”, “Basics of Translation Practice”, “Basics of Translation Theory”, “Translation Practice”.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form students' ideas about the functional and stylistic features of the legal and diplomatic sub-styles of the official-business style of the Arabic language; to highlight the typology of Arabic legal and diplomatic texts, linguistic and cultural factors of their creation; formation and development of written and oral two-way translation skills in the relevant field. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a practical direction.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline involves only practical classes aimed at students' work on legal and diplomatic translation in the classroom, self-study.Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of oral questioning and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, written works, lexical dictations, and translation exercises – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) written translation of an unfamiliar text from Arabic into Ukrainian; 2) written translation of an unfamiliar text from Ukrainian into Arabic. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
