Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully master the discipline, students must have a level of command of a foreign language –B1–B1+ (independent user, borderline level). Know the grammar, vocabulary, and phonetics of the studied foreign language and have grammatical, lexical, and phonetic skills in various types of speaking activities at the B1 - B1+ level in accordance with the European Recommendations on Language Education (2003). Possess types of speech activity and strategies of speech behavior (reading, speaking, listening, writing) at the B1-B1+ level in accordance with the European recommendations on language education (2003).
Course content
The multi-semester discipline "Foreign Language (English)" is aimed at the formation of foreign language communicative competence at the level of B2 - B2+ in accordance with the All-European recommendations on language education (2003) to ensure effective communication of future specialists in various situations of social, educational, academic and professional communication. During each semester, 2 content modules and 2 modular control papers are provided. Form of final control at the end of the first semester - intermediate control, II - VI semesters - exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course combines the following forms of education: practical classes and independent work. The main types of work in which students are involved and which are evaluated during the semester are: response to a practical session, preparation and defense of a project, modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 60 points and a minimum of 36 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The student's overall grade for the semester is based on a 100-point system and consists of points received for work during the semester (maximum - 60 points, minimum - 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum - 40 points, minimum - 24 points) . Semester control is aimed at evaluating answers in practical classes (20 points), preparation and defense of projects (20 points) and modular control papers (20 points). The exam is conducted in written and oral form. The examination ticket consists of two tasks: 1 question – a written task (max 30 points), 2 questions – an oral interview on the proposed topic (max 10 points).
