PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian and foreign language, in oral and written forms, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of Ukrainian language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 17. Collect, analyse, systematize and interpret language and speech facts and use them to solve complex problems and tasks in specialized fields of professional activity and / or training.

Full-time form

The program is designed for second-year students who have basic knowledge of the modern Ukrainian language. The student should know: the structure of the modern Ukrainian language; units of all structural levels of the Ukrainian language and the functions of these units; be able to: express one's own opinions regarding certain linguistic facts and phenomena; carry out phonetic, morphemic, morphological and syntactic analysis of units of the Ukrainian language; to have basic skills of working with educational and methodological aids, searching for information in scientific sources recommended for processing, analyzing and comparing linguistic phenomena, applying acquired knowledge in practice.

The goal of the discipline is to acquaint students with the origin of the Old Slavic language, its phonetic-phonological, lexical, morphological, word-forming and syntactic systems in a comparative-historical aspect against the background of linguistic phenomena and processes of the Indo-European and Proto-Slavic periods with a projection on the relevant linguistic facts of modern words languages, primarily Ukrainian and Russian, as well as the development of skills and abilities to apply the acquired knowledge in the process of reading, commenting, translating and complex linguistic analysis of Old Slavic texts. The discipline consists of two parts: Part 1. Introduction. The phonetic-phonological system of the Old Slavic language and its projection on Indo-European and Proto-Slavic sound processes. Vocabulary of Old Slavic manuscripts. Part 2. The grammatical system of the Old Slavic language.

Educational activities during the semester: • tasks performed in the process of independent work; • answers in practical classes; • creative tasks; • participation in the discussion.

Semester assessment: • the maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points; • answer to a practical lesson, addition, performance of a creative task, participation in a discussion: max. 5 points for each of the 14 lessons (estimated depending on the completeness of the disclosure of the question and the completion of the task); • control work 1 - max. 15 points. • control work 2 - max. 15 points. Final assessment: credit
