Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian and Swedish, English and third Germanic language, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 3. Organize own learning and self-education process. PLO 5. Collaborate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and issues of professional activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this course, students should know the key events and processes in the world history and the history of Ukraine, basic cultural concepts and categories (at the level of a graduate of a general secondary education institution); Be able to analyze and interpret literature, primary sources and reference materials dedicated to the historical and cultural development of Ukraine and other countries in the world, to use modern information and communication technologies in education. Possess elementary skills of critical thinking and teamwork.
Course content
The course "Ukrainian and foreign culture" was created on the basis of a scientific school at the Department of Ukrainian Philosophy and Culture, Faculty of Philosophy, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The course involves the study of theory and functions of culture, the main stages of cultural development and the typology of world cultures, sources from history of Ukrainian and foreign culture, mechanisms of regulating cultural practice and interaction between people in the community. When studying the discipline, the emphasis is on the analysis of cultural phenomena and processes that took place in different historical periods, their interrelationships and mutual influences, cultural features in different regions of the world, including in Ukraine. The discipline involves the study of the main achievements of Ukrainian and foreign culture, the conditions of their appearance and the analysis of characteristic features, in particular, the main achievements of art of various historical periods, studying the activities of cultural institutions.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: lectures, seminars, individual consultations, independent work of students. Teaching methods: explanatory and illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem-based lecture), heuristic method, presentation at a seminar, educational discussion, creative-analytical tasks (referencing, analysis of documents and works of art).
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: oral presentation, additions / participation in the discussion, independent work review (creative analytical tasks), written tests. Final assessment - credit. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
