Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, English and in two Western European languages, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication.
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it.
PLO 3. Organize own learning and self-education process.
PLO 5. Collaborate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc.
PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and issues of professional activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know the key events of the world history and the history of Ukraine. To be able to analyse and interpret literature and reference materials on the historical and cultural development of Ukraine and other countries of the world at a basic level. To have the basic skills of critical thinking.
Course content
The academic course introduces the theoretical and methodological basis for studying of culture to students. The course involves learning basic stages of the development of world cultures as well as their typology. It also provides the analysis of sources on the history of Ukrainian and foreign culture. The students analyse cultural phenomena and processes from various historical periods, as well as cultural interrelationships and interactions of the past, and what cultural peculiarities were formed in different regions of the world, including Ukraine. The students also study achievements of Ukrainian and foreign culture, in particular the main pieces of art from various historical periods, and learn how and in what circumstances they appeared, what specific features they have. It also provides learning the main cultural institutions and their practices for protecting and popularising the major components of the world's cultural heritage.

Lectures, seminars, students’ individual work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is carried out according to the module rating system. Formative assessment includes oral answers at the seminar (up to 50 points), creative task (individual work) (up to 10 points), express control (up to 20 points), final test paper (up to 20 points). The form of the final control is a credit.
