Course paper is an educational academic work in which a student is expected not only to demonstrate the ability to master the analysis of academic sources and how to operate with them, but also to perform independent research. The paper involves the analysis and interpretation of language material using the methods of linguistic analysis, formulation of generalizations and justification of conclusions based on students’ own observations. Drafting a term paper, students acquire knowledge about the stages of academic linguistic search, update, systematize, deepen the knowledge gained during their study, develop skills of independent research, improve the ability to evaluate the studied phenomena from the standpoint of the recent academic trends, form the skills of documenting material used in the study, but not the result of it (provision of quotation marks, citation of the source, its author, title, year and place of publication, page, etc.).
