The educational discipline "Landscapes of Ukraine" is devoted to the study of the natural environment of Ukraine as a complete system with complex territorial organization and long-term evolution. The discipline is focused on the generalization and synthesis of knowledge from the geological structure, relief, soils, climate, plant and animal cover of the territory of Ukraine into a holistic representation represented by the landscape concept. The discipline is aimed at the formation of special professional, social and personal competencies in students, the accumulation of knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of natural geography, especially - in the context of natural conditions and resources of the territory of Ukraine, the most important components of the discipline are: mastering the theoretical foundations, basic concepts and methodology of landscape geography in their application to the landscapes of Ukraine; study of external factors of formation of landscapes of Ukraine and regional landscape structures (tectonic, climatic, location, etc.); assimilation of the main regularities of the evolution of Ukrainian landscapes from the Neogene to the Holocene inclusively; elucidation of the essence, mechanisms of formation, territorial differences of the main regional landscape structures of the territory of Ukraine (zonal, provincial, altitudinal stratification, basin).
