            To successfully complete the course, students must first know: material on the theory of communication and the theory of the English language provided by the curriculum; be able to: produce and competently organize one's own English-language discourse on topics defined by the program, conduct dialogue, discussion, debate; analyze, compare, compare linguistic phenomena; analyze and comment on English original scientific, professional and socio-political texts; carry out lexical-grammatical, stylistic and Rhetorical analysis of authentic texts; correctly and appropriately use professional terminology and idiomatics, build syntactic structures in one's own speech; make oral / written translation of messages / texts containing professional terms; recognize and reproduce samples of authentic speech; perform tasks of a creative nature, etc.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The purpose of the discipline is to train qualified philologist specialists, teachers and translators-referents with the appropriate level of theoretical knowledge and consolidated practical skills for work in educational and business institutions, further study in graduate school.Abstract. The course "Communicative Strategies and Translation" is designed to form communicative strategies as a prerequisite for the successful work of a philologist-researcher, teacher and translator-referent to solve vital and professional tasks. The training course includes 4 thematic modules: "Language and speech", "Communication in the human society", "Oral and written communication", "Translation as a form of communicative activity", dedicated to the study of theoretical and practical aspects of communication in English, taking into account its ethno- and socio-cultural features, as well as methods of translation and editing of the message / text. The discipline ends with a test.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, test, scientific report, group/individual project, modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 80 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology. The discipline ends with a test.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            The overall grade consists of the points received for work during the semester (maximum – 80 points, minimum – 48 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of credit (maximum – 20 points, minimum – 12 points). The assessment format is written: one theoretical question (up to 10 points) and one practical task (lexical-syntactic, stylistic and genre-Rhetorical analysis of a scientific, professional or socio-political text, translation and editing) - up to 10 points. Assessment is conducted in English according to the results of the study: РН1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4, 3.2.
