Prerequisites and co-requisites
For successful completion of the course, students must first master the disciplines: "Oriental language: basic level", "Oriental language: intermediate level", "Oriental language: advanced level", "Oriental language: functional level", "Linguistics", "Fundamentals of translation theory ", "Translation Practice (Oriental language)", etc. They should also know the theoretical foundations of modern linguistics and cultural studies; to have the practice of communicating in Chinese, translating Chinese texts, and analyzing Chinese texts.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to improve the acquired competencies of Chinese philologists for professional activities and to develop practical skills in using the Chinese language in various fields.Abstract. The "Chinese Language for Professional Communication" course includes practical material describing the current state of Chinese language development; various genre texts are analyzed; polythematic conversational situations are simulated to improve acquired speaking skills. The course includes 4 content modules. Module 1 – coverage of the main aspects of human life and their speech embodiment in written and spoken discourses. Module 2 - improvement of students' speaking skills on issues of the ethno-political context of the history of the People's Republic of China. Module 3 – mastering communication skills in the context of media discourse. Module 4 – improvement of communication skills taking into account the lexical-grammatical and stylistic specifics of the text material. The discipline ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork, oral reports (analytical research work), testing (blitz survey), modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 60 points and a minimum of 36 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The total grade consists of points received for work during the semester (maximum – 60 points, minimum – 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum – 40 points, minimum – 24 points). The format of the exam is oral and written: it consists of 2 written tasks with open answers - 20 points; the oral part of the exam involves revealing the topic - 20 points). The exam is held in Ukrainian and Chinese according to the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1; LR 1.2; LR 2.1; LR 2.2; LR 2.3. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
