PR 04. Understand the basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the borders of subject areas.
PR 05. Use knowledge and demonstrate compliance with the provisions of biological ethics, biological safety and biological protection.
PR 06. Apply the principles of taxonomy, methods of detection and identification of non-cellular life forms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
PR 10. Establish patterns of interaction of living organisms of different forms of structural organization with each other, features of the influence of various factors on living organisms and assess their role in biosphere processes of biotic transformation of matter and energy.
PR 17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of scientific-theoretical and practical material of academic disciplines taught to students of 1-3 courses of educational level "Bachelor".
2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of virology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, cytology and histology, physiology, zoology, biophysics, etc.
Course content
The course consists of sections on the structure and reproduction of human and animal viruses. During the study of the discipline the general characteristics of virus families are given, which contains modern data on taxonomy and classification of human and animal viruses, genome properties, physical and chemical properties of nucleic acids and proteins, biological and antigenic properties, method of reproduction and ecology of viruses, role in human pathology. and animals, principles of laboratory diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
