Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the courses "Genetics", "Molecular Biology", "Biochemistry", "Cytology", as well as acquaintance with selected sections of the biology of individual development, evolution, taxonomy. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of chemistry, physics, molecular biology, cell biology, etc .; ability to use theoretical knowledge of these disciplines to solve practical problems. Possession of basic skills in working with scientific electronic databases, scientific literature and the ability to system analysis.
Course content
The discipline is a basic genetic course, which is devoted to the study of the principles of molecular organization of chromosomes of eukaryotic cells and patterns of control of their behavior in the cell cycle. Mechanisms of chromatin fibril compaction, molecular organization of centromeric, telomeric and subtelomeric regions of chromosomes are considered, principles of cellular control of chromosome segregation during divisions are demonstrated. The variety of types of structural organization of eukaryotic chromosomes is covered, as well as modern principles of molecular evolution of karyotypes are considered. Particular attention is paid to genetic pathologies associated with dysfunction of the chromosomal apparatus of the cell and disorders of cell cycle control.
