Learning outcomes
The student must know: the main stages of preparation of educational and scientific publications for printing; software for desktop computer publishing systems; requirements for the design of texts; main characteristics of fonts and features of their use in various types of professional activity; constituent components of textbooks and requirements for their design; peculiarities of preparation for the publication of poster reports; requirements for registration of publications in scientific publications; basic rules for the design of various constituent parts of the publication: tables, graphs, illustrations, formulas; peculiarities of copyright in publishing.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The educational discipline "Publishing systems" uses the knowledge of the basic cycle of disciplines (basics of hardware and software, computer systems), which were taught at the bachelor's level of the field of knowledge "Information technologies".
Course content
1. Stages of preparation of educational and scientific publications for publication. Familiarity with printing technologies and software. 2. Typography, both a text design system and its individual elements. Classification of fonts and their main characteristics. 3. Universal rules for designing the text of the publication. Rules of preparation and typical mistakes in design. 4. Approaches to the design of textbooks. Graduation details of the textbook. Methods of design of various elements of textbooks. Universal decimal classification of its relationship to the type of professional activity. Library and bibliographic classification. ISBN and ISSN for publications. 5. Presentation of poster presentations at conferences. 6. Preparation of publications in scientific journals. Approaches to the design of diagrams, graphs, tables, formulas and other elements of the publication. 7. Selected sections. Requirements for publication design, its classification Work with publication proofreading and basic designations. The basic rules of recruitment and design of the publication. Copyright in publishing.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, individual independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
- semester assessment: the semester has two semantic modules: the content module 1 (MR1) includes topics 1-3, the content module 2 (MR2) includes topics 4-7. The semester evaluation includes the evaluation for taking seminar classes. - credit form - written and oral. During the assessment, the student is offered to perform practical work (make up a scientific article in accordance with the requirements for its preparation). After the work is done, the results are discussed during which additional questions may be asked. The condition for achieving a positive grade for the discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, with a score of 2 [skills] and 4 [autonomy and responsibility] can not be less than 50% of the maximum level (15 and 5 points, respectively), grade for the test can not be less than 24 points. - the condition of admission to the test is the student's receipt of a total of not less than the critical-calculated minimum of 36 points per semester.
