Learning outcomes
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 6. To use the knowledge of expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 22. To analyze, design, and give reasons for translation decisions, decisions on the choice of translation tools, and methods of quality assurance in specialized translation. PLO 23. To plan the process of specialized interpreting and translation accordaning to the stages of a translation project. PLO 24.2 To apply principles of oral translation, note-taking, and oral translator’s rhetoric techniques in English.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Introduction to linguistics," "Introduction to translation studies," "Comparative lexicology," "Comparative grammar," and "Practice of translation and interpretation." Proficiency in German - no lower than C1 level.
Course content
The discipline introduces students to the critical issues of specialized translation, in particular, the peculiarities of the German professional language of various fields, the current state of specialized terminology, strategies and methods of specialized translation, taking into account different types of professional texts, communicative situation and pragmatic factors, the causes of difficulties in translating narrowly specialized texts and ways to overcome them. Furthermore, practical tasks aim to develop skills and abilities in the specialized translation of the material of authentic texts.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of knowledge is based on the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, including the evaluation of theoretical training-learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.2), which is 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.2); (communication 3.); (autonomy and responsibility 4.), which is 60% of the total grade.
