Learning outcomes
Knowledge to understand key chemical concepts, essential facts, principles, and theories relating to natural sciences, life and earth sciences, as well as chemical technologies at a level sufficient for professional application and to enable further deep understanding of specialized fields of chemistry. Knowledge to understand the relationship between structure and properties of substances.To know principles and procedures of physicochemical research methods, typical equipment, and instruments. Skill to plan and perform a chemical experiment, to apply suitable methods and techniques for preparation of solutions and reagents. Skill to apply basic principles of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics to solve professional tasks. Skill to perform experimental work to test hypotheses and investigation of chemical phenomena and regularities. Ability to work individually or in a group, to obtain results within a limited time with an emphasis on professional honesty and scientific integrity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students have to know the basic principles of physical, inorganic, and analytical chemistry, be able to apply knowledge of physical and inorganic chemistry to analyze and describe electrochemical systems, and have practical skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Course content
Thermodynamics of electrochemical systems. Electrolytic dissociation, interionic interaction, ion solvation, electrical conductivity, diffusion, migration. Electrode potentials and polarization of electrodes, stationary current-voltage curve. Quantitative and qualitative electrochemical methods of analysis.
