Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles. PLO 20. To undertake pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various styles and genres. PLO 24.1. To apply appropriate strategies and tactics in the process of translating and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts. PLO 25.1. To apply written translation techniques from Ukrainian into English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student should know: - the main types of translation transformations to achieve translation equivalence and adequacy; - lexical and grammatical material in the amount of no less than B2; be able to: - understand by ear French-language texts of medium level of difficulty; - apply translation techniques in practice and determine translation strategies; - use lexical and graphic reference materials and Internet resources; have skills of - written translation from French into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into French; - oral sequential translation and translation from a sheet from French into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into French.
Course content
Deepening the training of translation techniques and adaptation of the formed translation competence to modern professional requirements; developing skills to achieve translation adequacy and equivalence, in particular focusing on idiomatic translation and focus on mastering key political, economic, financial, legal, technical, and medical terminology. The course involves the study of the basic regularities of the translation process and translation correspondences, methods of translation, as well as the peculiarities of the translation of texts of various genres and styles. Special attention is paid to learning methods of solving typical translation tasks and strategies for finding individual creative solutions. The process of teaching the translation of professional texts also includes a critical assessment of educational translations and the rejection of unacceptable options.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: - oral answers; blitz survey; oral translations; - written tasks (translations, summary translations); - compilation and defense of the translator's thematic file.
Assessment methods and criteria
Mastery of the material is evaluated in practical classes, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 7. РПНД. Final evaluation – credit. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. The maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - "pass". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - "fail". In particular, semester evaluation by forms of control: oral answers, blitz survey – max. 20 points; written tasks (translations, summary translations) – max. 20 points; compilation and defense of the translator's thematic file – 20 points; modular tests – max. 40 points.
