Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students should know the basics of general and inorganic chemistry, chemistry of transition elements (atomic structure, chemical bond theory, theory of electrolytic dissociation), physical chemistry (thermodynamics and kinetics), and crystal chemistry. Be able to perform calculations before synthesizing coordination compounds, use knowledge of general and inorganic chemistry to master theoretical approaches to complexation reactions and determine the composition and structure of synthesized compounds. Have experimental skills in working with dishes, reagents and equipment in an inorganic chemistry laboratory
Course content
The educational discipline "Synthesis and identification of coordination compounds" is built in such a way as to give students theoretical knowledge about the peculiarities of complexation reactions, their thermodynamic and kinetic regularities, as well as to develop experimental skills in the synthesis of coordination compounds. Students master the literary search for information on the synthesis of complexes. The effect of synthesis conditions on the course of complexation reactions is considered in detail. Students learn to determine the composition and structure of coordination compounds using chemical, physico-chemical and physical research methods.
