Prerequisites and co-requisites
This course is based on the knowledge of courses in general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemistry of transition elements (atomic structure, theory of chemical bonding, theory of electrolytic dissociation), physical chemistry (thermodynamics and kinetics), crystal chemistry. The material of the discipline is the basis for studying the following disciplines: "Spectroscopy of inorganic toxicants", "Methods of environmental control and monitoring", "Atmospheric chemistry", "Chemistry of natural and wastewater", "Inorganic basics of green chemistry", "Solid waste processing", " Migration of chemical substances under the conditions of anthropogenesis".
Course content
The educational discipline "Introduction to coordination chemistry" forms the theoretical basis necessary for understanding the nature of coordination compounds and their properties. Students get acquainted with the coordination theory, the basic concepts of coordination chemistry, methods of synthesis of coordination compounds, the theory of chemical bonding, and the structure and systematics of coordination compounds. The relationship between the electronic structure of complexes and their properties is explained, as well as the possibility of using coordination compounds.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester control includes homework, tests and laboratory works. The evaluation is based on a 100-point scale. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the semester assessment is 60 points / 36 points. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student in the exam is 40 points / 24 points.
