Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific linguistic field. PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying. PLO 17. To plan, organize, perform and present research and / or innovative developments in a specific linguistic field. PLO 18. To present the results of one’s research to the academic community in academic publications or presentations at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Proficiency in German, written mediation in a second foreign language, and consecutive oral mediation on the professional user level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize students with the essential requirements and norms of academic speech, types and genres of oral and written academic communication, the formation of translation competencies for the successful implementation of oral mediation in academic discourse, the creation of a lexical minimum of scientific terminology for discussion, presentation of their research, projects. The course material outlines the peculiarities of academic discourse and the specifics of scientific texts, teaches students oral interaction in the academic environment, the ability to make presentations, conduct scientific discussions, polemic at a high scientific level, and be able to present their arguments and ask questions during discussions, forms the essential stock of language clichés to make their presentations, moderate discussions, create their research projects, and present the results of scientific research within the framework of master's theses.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: - tasks completed in the process of independent work; - mid-term control - written tests covering four aspects of language competence; - answers at seminars; - projects, presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of theoretical training amounts to 40% of the total score, assessment of practical training amounts to 60% of the total score. Forms of work: Oral answer, statements on the topic, additions during the blitz survey/discussion of the LO. 1.1.-1.4., 2.1-2.5., 3.1.-3.3., 4.1.-4.5. (0.5 / 2 points); Presentations, abstracts, reports, and creative tasks of LO. 1.4., 2.1-2.5., 3.1.-3.3., 4.1.-4.5. (5/10 points); Note-taking, abstracting of RN. 1.1.-1.3., 2.2.-2.5., 3.2., 3.3., 4.1.-4.5. (0.5/2 points); Lexical dictation LO 1.3.,2.2.,2.4.,3.2. (0.5/2 points); Test: 1.1.-1.4., 2.1-2.5., 3.1.-3.3., 4.1.-4.5. (10 /20 points). The credit is calculated based on the student's work throughout the semester. Students who have scored a minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - a "pass," and those who have not achieved - a "fail." The maximum grade for the course is 100 points.
