Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the state and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the state and foreign languages.
PLO 6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, logical means of language and speech technique to achieve the planned pragmatic result and organize successful communication.
PLO 10. To demonstrate in-depth knowledge of folklore studies, intercultural communication and the foreign language.
PLO 16. Use specialized conceptual knowledge of folkloristics to solve complex problems and problems that require updating and integration of knowledge, often in conditions of incomplete or insufficient information and conflicting requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of techniques and methods of traditional linguistic analysis of units of all levels of organization of the English and Ukrainian language system, elementary skills of mathematical and computer modeling of linguistic phenomena. To know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, translation studies, grammar and stylistics of the English and Ukrainian languages. Be able to translate from English to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to English using translation strategies. To have the techniques and methods of traditional linguistic analysis of units of all levels of organization of the English and Ukrainian language system, translation strategies.
Course content
Purpose of discipline – to form an adequate operational competence of the translator - the ability to understand the linguistic and stylistic features of folk prose texts of various genres and the ability to convey their specificity in translation.
Annotation.The discipline "Practicum on the translation of folklore texts" is designed to meet the need for the training of folklorists with the necessary knowledge and developed skills for translation work when working with prose genres of folk literature: using the learned translation techniques, to carry out an adequate written translation of folklore texts of various genres from English into Ukrainian language and vice versa; be able to perform a translational analysis of the translated text by comparing it with the original text; be able to use auxiliary sources (reference literature, dictionaries, Internet resources) when performing translations; to widely use all the richness of the Ukrainian language in the process of translation; use background knowledge effectively.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Answering a seminar class, performing written translations using Internet resources, performing oral translations using Internet resources, control work with open answers, test.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control. Tasks are performed according to the dates of practical tasks. Mid-term control - 6th and 12th week - written works are submitted to the teacher.
The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "not enrolled". Students who scored less than 60 points in total for the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing independent works, translations, or, if necessary, write a control paper.
