Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the state and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the state and foreign languages.
PLO 10. To demonstrate in-depth knowledge of folklore studies, intercultural communication and the foreign language.
PLO 13. It is accessible and reasoned to explain the essence of specific philological issues and one's own point of view on them both to specialists and to the general public. PLO 19.2. Apply knowledge of the theory of industry translation, solve problems related to the analysis of folklore material.
PLO 20.2. Use communicative strategies in communicating with participants in the translation process.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of techniques and methods of traditional linguistic analysis of units of all levels of organization of the English and Ukrainian language system, elementary skills of mathematical and computer modeling of linguistic phenomena. To know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, translation studies, grammar and stylistics of the English and Ukrainian languages. Be able to translate from English to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to English using translation strategies. To have the techniques and methods of traditional linguistic analysis of units of all levels of organization of the English and Ukrainian language system, translation strategies.
Course content
Purpose of discipline - The goal of the discipline is to form professional translation competence, which consists in the ability to perform oral and written translation of texts of various genres at a high professional level.
Annotation. The discipline "Genre theories of translation" is aimed at the formation of the following program competencies: the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources; understanding the essence of the translator's activity in overcoming difficulties in scientific-cognitive and pragmatic aspects at the lexical, grammatical and stylistic levels; the ability to practically improve the skills of written and oral translation of the text, and also, having the basics of stylistic (genre), communicative-pragmatic and gender analysis of the text, to improve one's knowledge and skills of translation analysis of folklore texts of various genres, which is one of the prerequisites for their high-quality written translation.

Answering a seminar class, oral and written translation of texts of various genres.
Translation test with translation commentary, colloquium, exam
Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam:
the maximum number of points on the exam - 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive evaluation), which are added to semester grades - 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam);
the exam is conducted in oral and written form and involves answers to two theoretical questions (oral), each of which is evaluated with a maximum of 10 points, as well as a written translation of a passage of the text (10 points maximum) with a translation comment (10 points maximum).
