Prerequisites and co-requisites
The Simultaneous Interpretation (French Language) discipline is based on a cycle of professional and practical training disciplines, in particular "Practical Course of the French Language", "Practice of Translation and Interpretation", as well as theoretical disciplines in linguistics and translation studies. The student must know Interpretation techniques in order to make Interpretation at a fast pace; to have basic skills of selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts; skills of working with modern information technologies; to adapt and withstand stress in a new situation.
Course content
The course consists of two substantive parts. The first part is devoted to familiarization with the activity of an interpreter and the development of basic skills, includes exercises, simultaneous interpretation of a simulated interview based on the content of the studied material, interpretation of an unknown text on the studied topic; analysis of shortcomings of own interpretation; acquiring the skills of thematic and terminological preparation for simultaneous interpretation and choosing a interpretation strategy depending on the communication situation. The second part is dedicated to practicing the skills of simultaneous interpretation of texts of various genres: interviews, round tables with illustrative materials in Power Point format, other handouts, peculiarities of interpretation through a third language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training Activities Throughout the Semester: 1. Performance of simultaneous interpretation tasks in practical classes. 2. Interpretations. 3. Translations. 4. Compilation of a glossary; oral test of the translator's individual thematic glossary. Teaching methods are interactive, creative-heuristic, analytical, mnemonic.
Assessment methods and criteria
The maximum score during the semester is 100 points. In particular, semester evaluation by forms of control: - interpretations - max. 30 points; - translations - max. 30 points; - compilation of a glossary and oral test of an individual thematic glossary - max. 20 points; - modular control: interpretation + translations - max. 20 points; Final assessment in the form of a credit. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points 60, receive - "credited ". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points 60, receive - "uncredited".
