Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know:
1) the rules of phonetic design (emphasis, pause, intonation) of statements of various types (dialogue, monologue) in accordance with the situation of intercultural communication;
2) functional and stylistic norms of use of lexical items of the synonymous series, idioms, expressions in accordance with the situation of intercultural communication;
3) rules for using verb forms in the active and passive voice;
2. Be able to:
1) produce prepared or unprepared monologue statements that summarize and/or supplement the content of what they have heard or seen, following the laws of genre and style;
2) reproduce the content of what they have read; and express their own opinion about what they have read or heard, giving arguments for it;
3) describe people (character, appearance), places (hometown, magical places, tourist attractions, museums, etc.); things (paintings), using emotive, evaluative and descriptive vocabulary.
Course content
The discipline is taught in the V and VI semesters in the amount of ECTS credits; in particular, in the V semester 60 classroom hours, 60 hours - independent work, in the VI semester - 60 classroom hours, 60 hours - independent work. The program includes 4 content modules. Module 1 deals with the conversational topic Facts and figures, which is devoted to the peculiarities of argumentation, genre laws of writing a story and writing documents in accordance with the requirements of the official business style, as well as the following grammatical topics: impersonal verb forms; general characteristics of impersonal verb forms: semantic and morphological features; gerunds: its semantic, morphological and syntactic features. Module 2 is devoted to the conversational topic Light and Darkness and teaches how to design a presentation in accordance with the requirements of academic style; text analysis, means of expressiveness and imagery. Grammar topics: semantic, morphological and syntactic characteristics of the infinitive. Module 3 focuses on the topic of Big and Small, during which you will learn vocabulary for expressing hopes, describing geographical places, evaluative and emotive vocabulary, as well as grammatical topics: semantic, morphological and syntactic characteristics of the participle. Module 4 focuses on the topics Theory and practice and Peculiarities of using participial constructions of secondary predication. Semantic, morphological and syntactic criteria for distinguishing between "-ing" and "-ed" forms in English.
