Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before studying this course, students should know about the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; have basic factual knowledge of the humanities and social sciences.
Course content
Formation of a system of basic knowledge, skills and abilities of rational, critical and empathic thinking to solve complex specialized problems and practical problems of philological nature in the field of humanitarian knowledge. The discipline introduces students to philosophical thought in its historical development and current state, to the fundamental way of comprehending the foundations of human existence, cognition and activity mediated by the peculiarities of the corresponding socio-cultural era. It provides a holistic view of the specifics of philosophical knowledge, its issues, concepts and categories, and structure. It shows the methodological role of philosophical knowledge in understanding ontological, epistemological, axiological and social problems of life. Introduces the main patterns of development of nature and society and the place of man in the world.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, independent work. Teaching methods: problem-based teaching, partial search, theoretical and practical, consciously practical teaching methods. Illustrative methods. Independent work with scientific and reference literature.
Assessment methods and criteria
An oral report, a humanitarian workshop, and module tests. Specific assessment criteria are provided in the discipline's work program.
