Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. to know: have knowledge of the history of world and Ukrainian education (within the program of complete general secondary education program). 2. be able to: identify, analyze, compare information of historical and cultural analyze their own abilities, inclinations, interests; 3. have basic skills: processing a scientific text, systematizing materials necessary for work, effective organization of their own learning activities.
Course content
formation of students' systematic knowledge about the history of university education. education, the main stages of Kyiv University's activity, in particular the development of philological research in it, lecturing and research activities of philology teachers; familiarization with the specifics of philological knowledge and the profession of a philologist, modern directions of philological research and the place of the chosen philological specialization among them, the concept of training a specialist at the Institute of Philology; facilitating the adaptation of freshmen to university studies, helping students in mastering communicative, ethical, volitional, disciplinary and organizational skills and abilities to improve learning and increase the effectiveness of university studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities: lectures, consultations, independent work. Teaching methods: explanatory and illustrative method, problem-based learning method (problem lecture), partially searching (heuristic) method, class discussion, preparation and discussion of presentations (case projects), preparation of essays and essays, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: testing, express surveys, participation in discussions, presentation (case project), essay, essay, module test. The final assessment is a test. Assessment criteria for each form of control are given in the work program of the discipline.
