Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course is interactive. It is based on the courses taken "Introduction to Literary Studies, Literatures of the Ancient East, History of the Ancient East, and the course of (school) Ukrainian literature, and provides for "different educational levels" (R. Semkiv). In addition to lectures, seminars, and independent work, there are educational discussions, informative presentations, work with electronic resources, and other innovative methods.
Course content
"Oriental Reminiscences in Ukrainian Literature" involves working with artistic, literary, and critical material that reveals the above-mentioned types of Ukrainian orientalism, shows its main vectors, genre, thematic, and figurative specifics of works of art, the peculiarities of the dialogic nature of "one's own" and "other's" in them, forms of reminiscences, their functions, types of reminiscence relations: plot, composition, genre, style, form, etc. The material analyzed shows Ukrainian literature as an open artistic system with "moving principles of artistic writing, dynamic contacts, and an open field of intercultural relations."

1. Oriental monuments in Ukrainian medieval literature: types and forms of reminiscences (your choice). Works: "Stefanit and Ichnilat", "Alexandria", "Wise Akyr", "Barlaam and Joasaph". 2. Oriental narratives in Ukrainian baroque literature. 3. Polemical treatises by I. Haliatowski "Alkoran" and "The Swan". 4. "Travels" by V. Hryhorovych-Barsky: genre syncretism of the work; the motif of travel. 5. The fable genre in H. Skovoroda's works: oriental sources (Egyptian, ancient Indian, Persian). 6. The work of Ivan Franko "On the question of the legends about Mohammed among the Slavs". 7. Eastern monuments in the "Slavic Mythology" by N. Kostomarov. 8. Crimean motifs in the works of M. Kostomarov ("Autobiography", the poem "Jupiter is bright...").

Assessment methods and criteria
- semester assessment: Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, including assessment of theoretical training learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.3), which is 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.6); (communication 3.1-3.3); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.3), which is 60% of the total grade. of the total grade.
