Prerequisites and co-requisites
Educational qualification level of bachelor degree. The discipline of simultaneous interpretation (Spanish language) is based on a cycle of professional and practical training disciplines, in particular Practical course of the Spanish language, Practice of written and oral translation, as well as theoretical disciplines in linguistics and translation studies. The student must know translation techniques in order to make translations at a fast pace; to have basic skills of selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts; skills of working with modern information technologies; to adapt and withstand stress in a new situation.
Course content
The course consists of two substantive parts. The first part is devoted to familiarization with the activity of an interpreter and the development of basic skills, includes exercises, simultaneous translation of a simulated interview based on the content of the studied material, translation of an unknown text on the studied topic; analysis of shortcomings of own translation; acquiring the skills of thematic and terminological preparation for simultaneous translation and choosing a translation strategy depending on the communication situation. The second part is dedicated to practicing the skills of simultaneous translation of texts of various genres: interviews, round tables with illustrative materials in Power Point format, other handouts, features of translation through a third language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: 1. Performance of simultaneous interpretation tasks in practical classes. 2. Oral translation 3. Written translation. 4. Preparation and oral compilation of the translators individual thematic glossary. Teaching methods are interactive, creative-heuristic, analytical, mnemonic.
Assessment methods and criteria
The maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points. In particular, semester evaluation by forms of control: - oral translations - max. 30 points; - written translations - max. 30 points; - preparation and oral compilation of an individual thematic glossary - max. 20 points; - modular control: oral + written translations - max. 20 points; Final evaluation - credit. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - not counted
