Learning outcomes
PR06. Be able to determine and analyze the basic physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids). PR09. Be able to prepare the basic nutrient media for the cultivation of various biological agents. Evaluate the peculiarities of the growth of biological agents in media of different composition. PR10. Be able to conduct experimental research to determine the influence of physicochemical and biological factors of the environment on the viability of cells of living organisms.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Chemistry", "Bioorganic Chemistry". 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of organic and bioorganic chemistry, physico-chemical basis of the interaction of atoms and molecules in the formation of various chemical structures, as well as the basics of their decay. 3. Be able to independently apply previously acquired knowledge in chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc. disciplines, search for new scientific data, work with scientific and methodological literature.
Course content
The discipline "Biochemistry" introduces students to modern principles of synthesis, decomposition and interconversion of major macromolecules in body tissues (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids). Particular attention is paid to the unique characteristics of each class of the above substances, which make them the main elements in providing such vital functions as structuring all cell membranes, enzymatic catalysis and the transfer and realization of hereditary information. The concepts of energy value, signal functions of individual representatives of each of the classes of substances, their involvement in the functioning of regulatory systems of the cell are also provided. The discipline presents modern ideas about the peculiarities of metabolic transformations of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins in normal and in pathology, taking into account the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of regulation of metabolism and bioenergetic processes.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory work, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: 1. Modular test I - PH 1.1-1.4 - 10 points / 5 points 2. Modular test 2 - PH 1.3-1.7 - 10 points / 5 points 3. Oral answers in the laboratory - PH 1.1-1.7 - 14 points / 7 points 4. Defense of laboratory work - PH 2.1-3.1 - 12 points / b points 5. Tasks of the workbook - PH 1.1-1.7 - 14 points / 7 points Final assessment of the educational component as a whole, the final form of control over which is set the exam is defined as the sum of grades (points) for all successfully evaluated learning outcomes during the semester and the grade obtained during the exam. If during the semester the student scored less than the minimum threshold (50% of the maximum possible number of points) for each planned learning outcome (for example, 4 points for Modular test 1), points are not added to the semester final grade . - final assessment: in the form of an exam
