This involves the study of the general geophysical characteristics of the Earth, the most important information about minerals and rocks with elements of their diagnosis, the processes of internal and external geodynamics, as well as the development of skills in reading geological maps and sections. "Module 2. Soil science" reveals the main provisions of soil science as a science, which studies the origin, structure, composition, properties and dynamics of soils as natural-historical formations, which, moreover, are objects of labor and means of production. Within the scope of the module, the essence of the concept of "soil" and modern approaches to its interpretation, the genesis of soils and the influence of soil-forming factors on their formation, the phase composition of the soil, the main physical, physico-chemical and morphological properties of soils, the patterns of distribution and the basic laws of the geography of soils of Ukraine and of the world, principles of soil classification, basics of rational use, monitoring and protection of soil and land resources.

Enrollment of all topics of independent work, which are performed in the form of tasks according to the content determined by the teacher, is a mandatory condition. The final evaluation in the form of an exam is conducted in writing. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points added to the semester ones is 20 points. Conditions for admission to the exam: students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum (20 points) are not allowed to take the exam. In this case, it is mandatory to resubmit those types of work for which they received an assessment lower than the minimum allowable. The recommended minimum for admission is 27 points.
