Learning outcomes
The student should know free and forced linear oscillations systems; fluctuations of parametric systems; free and forced oscillations of nonlinear oscillators; quasi-harmonic, relaxation and stochastic self-oscillations; coupled oscillations; propagation and radiation of linear waves; interaction of waves of various types, including in open systems; parametric interaction of waves; solitons and shock waves; regular and stochastic autowaves.
The student should be able to calculate the properties of free and forced oscillations in linear systems; calculate the properties of free and forced oscillations in parametric,
nonlinear and self-oscillating systems; calculate the properties of waves in linear and nonlinear media, in particular, in plasma.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The study discipline "Oscillations and Waves" is based on the cycle of mandatory bachelor's subjects of the relevant specialty, namely: "Mathematical Analysis", "Differential Equations", "Methods of mathematical physics", "General physics", "Radio circuits and signals", "Radio electronics", "Theoretical mechanics".
Prerequisites:
the student must know: basic laws, equations and relationships of mechanics, molecular physics, electricity and magnetism;
the student must be able to: use the apparatus of higher mathematics (mathematical analysis, linear algebra, differential equations).
Course content
The study of the discipline "Oscillations and waves" allows us to understand the essence of such phenomena: free and forced oscillations of linear systems; fluctuations of parametric systems; free and forced oscillations of nonlinear oscillators; quasi-harmonic, relaxation and stochastic self-oscillations; propagation and radiation of linear waves; interaction of waves of various types, including open systems; parametric interaction of waves; solitons and shock waves.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes; independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the academic semester has three content modules. After completing their studies, colloquiums and written modular tests are held. Mandatory
for admission to the exam is: obtaining at least 36 points of the semester rating.
Final evaluation - - in the form of an exam; the form of the exam is written and oral. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, while the exam grade cannot be less than 24 points.
