Learning outcomes
The student must have the current state of the field regarding the topic of the work and its relevance; theoretical information on the topic of the thesis; methods and techniques used in the study. The student must be able to make an analytical review of scientific and technical literature; perform research / engineering development; draw conclusions based on the results obtained.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The thesis is completed at the final stage of study after studying the entire complex of educational components of this educational program and is based on the results of their mastery. The implementation of educational components related to the development of practical skills is especially important research work - research practices. The implementation of the individual educational trajectory of a higher education student is realized by choosing a thesis topic related to the optional components chosen by the student during the education process.
Course content
Master's thesis is a type of independent creative work of the applicant, performed by him at the last stage of his studies. The topic of the thesis corresponds to current problems specialty "Applied physics and nanomaterials" and is oriented towards the goal of this educational and scientific program, i.e. training a qualified specialist in applied physics in the fields of plasma technologies and physical electronics, nanophysics and nanoelectronics, optical and microwave information technologies, applied optics and magnetism.
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The thesis topic for each student of higher education is formulated and approved by the graduation department before the start of its implementation, it must correspond to the general the direction of the educational program and rely on the specifics of the selective block of disciplines chosen by the applicant. The scientific supervision of the Master's thesis is individual, that is, a separate supervisor is appointed for each candidate. Completion of the thesis is mainly an independent work of the applicant, but he has the right to be consulted by the supervisor and (if necessary) other scientific and pedagogical staff of the department. A fully completed thesis is submitted by the applicant to the department by the deadline, no later than two weeks before the day of the defense in the Examination Committee.
Assessment methods and criteria
The thesis defense is two-stage. The first stage is a preliminary defense at the hearing department. The second stage is a public defense at the meeting Examination commission, which conducts the final attestation of the applicant. Both stages of defense take place according to the same procedure, the basis of which is the report of the student of higher education. After the report, the applicant is asked questions based on it materials. At its meeting, the department issues a preliminary assessment and allows the work to be defended at the Examination Committee. The evaluation of the department, together with the evaluations of the manager and the reviewer, can be taken into account by the Examination Commission, which issues the final evaluation. The master's thesis is evaluated using a point-rating system for evaluating knowledge on a 100-point national scale.
