Learning outcomes
The student should know the classical and quantum distributions of particles in terms of speed, energy and in the field of forces; elements of fluctuation theories; theory of transfer phenomena in gases and liquids; physical phenomena in rare gases; laws of thermodynamics; basics of the theory of heat capacity of matter; entropy and its relationship with the probability of the state of the system; methods of thermodynamics and basic thermodynamic relations; phase transformations and conditions of phase coexistence; elements of fluid theory; elements of solid state theory; elements of the theory of liquid and solid solutions. The student must be able to calculate the average values of physical quantities; use the theory of transfer phenomena; use the laws of thermodynamics; determine the dependence of the internal energy of a substance on temperature and volume.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The study discipline "Molecular Physics" is based on the cycle of professional disciplines and practical training, in particular, "Mechanics", "Mathematical analysis", "General algebra".
Course content
The discipline program examines the properties of gases, liquids and solids in connection with their structure and the nature of the movement of molecules and atoms in them. For this, the methods of molecular kinetic theory and statistical physics are used. Statistical distributions and basic laws of thermodynamics are considered. Examples of the application of molecular physics methods to some physical phenomena in gases, liquids, solids, and solutions are given.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent individual work, colloquium.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: control is carried out according to the following principle. The academic semester has two content modules. After the completion of the relevant topics, two written colloquiums and two written modular tests are held. To determine the level of achievement of learning outcomes, tasks for modular works test theoretical knowledge and the ability to apply it to the solution of specific physical problems. Mandatory for admission to the exam is writing the 1st and 2nd colloquiums and the 1st and 2nd modular test papers with a score of at least 10 points for the colloquium and 5 points for the test paper. The final evaluation is in the form of an exam, the form of the exam is written and oral. . In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, while the exam grade cannot be less than 24 points.
