Learning outcomes
2. To analyze, comment and summarize scientific and analytical texts of culturological format. 8. To interpret cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and certain methods, tо reasonably present conclusions regarding their content. 15. To communicate freely on professional issues orally and in writing in the official and foreign languages, taking into account the purpose of communication and social and cultural features of its context.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Students should know: the basic level for high school graduates according to the requirements; a sufficient level of knowledge from the course "Ukrainian Literary Language" according to the program: the current state of development of functional styles of the Ukrainian literary language; genre differentiation of the Ukrainian literary language; principles of linguistic analytical work with scientific sources; basic concepts, terms, professionalisms and nomenclature names in the chosen field for specialization; main linguistic features of genres of confessional style; 2. To be able to explain the meaning of the main philological terms provided by the standard school course; to explain the specifics of the functional-stylistic division of the modern Ukrainian language; 3. To have elementary skills of formulating one's opinion, to have an idea of language as a system. To be fluent in scientific terminology corresponding to the chosen specialty of the field of knowledge.
Course content
Part of the course 1. Old Slavic language as the oldest fixation of the Slavic language. Subject and task. The place of the Old Slavic language among other Slavic languages. The spoken basis of the Old Slavic language is the South Slavic Thessalonica dialect. The emergence and development of Old Slavic writing. Part of the course 2. Phonetics. The sounds of the Old Slavic language in comparative and historical coverage. Morphology. The main lexical and grammatical classes of words in the Old Slavic language. Noun. Pronoun. Adjective. Nominative and pronominal adjectives. Verb. Adverb in the Old Slavic language. The problem of Old Slavic numerals. Service words in the Old Slavic language. Part of the course 3. Syntax. Vocabulary and phraseology. The specificity of the lexical structure of the Old Slavic language as a literary language. Vocabulary composition. Common Slavic vocabulary. Borrowing from the Greek language. Slavic neologisms. Tracing.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral presentation, additions and participation in discussions at seminars: – 22 / 48 points 2. Self-study №1: – 8 / 10 points 3. Self-study №2: – 8 / 10 points 4. Self-study №3: – 10 / 12 points 5. Final control work in written form - 12 / 20 points The final number of points for the discipline (maximum 100 points) is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Thus, the final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for the semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and the final test (minimum 12, maximum 20 points).
