Prerequisites and co-requisites
Teaching the educational discipline "Telecommunications cable and optical fiber systems" requires students to successfully master the material of the educational disciplines: "Higher mathematics", "General physics" and "Means of the microwave range and antenna systems of telecommunications".
Course content
Digital signals. Principles of signal multiplexing. Systems of primary formation of groups. Transport network architecture. TMN telecommunication network management systems. Introduction to WDM wave multiplexing technology. Technology with dense spectral separation of DWDM channels and coarse (loose) spectral separation of CWDM channels. Optical fiber. Types of modern optical fibers. Parameters of multiplexers/demultiplexers affecting the efficiency of WDM system elements. SWDM technology. Measurement and monitoring of WDM systems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures - 60 hrs, practical lessons - 14 hrs, laboratory work - 16 hrs, independent work - 90 hrs, total - 180 hrs.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: defense of laboratory and independent individual works, in total - up to 60 points. Final assessment in the form of an exam - up to 40 points.
