Learning outcomes
Students' assimilation of conceptual principles of formation and transmission of messages and mathematical models for quantitative assessment of information characteristics of processes of formation of coding and transmission of messages.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Be able to describe signals with continuous functions and discrete sequences. Know the main properties and characteristics of random processes. Have the skills to analyze signals in frequency and time representation.
Course content
Mathematical models of signals. Methods of mutual conversion of continuous and discrete signals. Quantitative assessment of information. Informational characteristics of the message source and the communication channel. Efficient coding. Corrective coding.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: individual calculation tasks - up to 60 points. Final assessment in the form of an exam - up to 40 points.
