Learning outcomes
Acquaintance of students with the main methods and models used in physical and telecommunication science, physical and telecommunication concepts studied and illustrated by applications in the research and development of radio technical means, production and maintenance of devices, systems and nodes for generation, formation, control, radiation, receiving and processing signals in telecommunication networks in a wired/wireless channel and their architecture.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Be able to: run application software tools and manage them based on a graphical user interface, navigate the file system of any OS. Know: the basic principles of building telecommunication systems; principles of data exchange in telecommunication systems and implementation of distributed systems; main telecommunication and network technologies and their development trends; principles of ensuring information security.
Course content
Topology of networks. Network software. TCP/IP & OSI reference models. Physical layer and data channel layer. Protocols and network in the TCP / IP model. Theoretical foundations of data transmission. Channel layer and network layer. TCP, UDP, DNS and some important concepts. Telephone and transmission systems. Mobile communication – GSM. GSM network architecture. Mobile radio systems. Design of a cellular concept-system. Small-scale multipath propagation. Delay propagation fading effects with multipath delay. Network infrastructure and LTE elements. Network architecture and protocols. Access to the downlink. Physical layer in LTE.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures - 122 hrs, practical lessons - 28 hrs, independent work - 150 hrs, total - 300 hrs.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: two colloquiums (up to 5 points each), two written test papers (up to 20 points each), and twelve computational and graphic papers (up to 10 points in total) are planned for each semester, up to 60 points in total. Each semester ends with an exam - up to 40 points. Exam form: written and oral.
