1. To have the skills of critical thinking, to present their own thoughts in a clear way, to make their arguments.
2. To analyze, comment and summarize scientific and analytical texts of culturological format.
5. To collect, organize and analyze information on cultural phenomena, events, historical and cultural processes.
8. To interpret cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and certain methods, tо reasonably present conclusions regarding their content.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Course content
The discipline "History of Philosophy" is mandatory for
specialty "cultural studies". "History of Philosophy" provides students with an introduction
Faculty of Philosophy of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with
peculiarities of the development of the history of foreign philosophy from the moment of its emergence to
today and consists of two parts. The course is important to expand and
deepening the knowledge of students in the field of historical and philosophical science is indispensable
a component of the training of modern culturologists. The subject, task is defined,
theoretical foundations, methodologies, main directions and historical-philosophical problems
of research The normative study discipline "History of Philosophy" provides students
the opportunity to form the necessary theoretical base for independent or classroom
study of such disciplines as "Philosophy of the New Times", "Medieval Philosophy",
"Renaissance philosophy", "Ancient philosophy", "German classical philosophy".
At the same time, the range of issues considered in the course includes texts that compose
an integral part of such disciplines as "History of world culture", "History of the state and
rights". The discipline provides basic theoretical knowledge for acquiring practical skills
work with philosophical texts, which is a necessary element of modern professional training

ssessment of semester work:
1. Oral report, additions and participation in discussions at seminars: 21 / 35 points
2. Self-study #1 (summary of primary source texts): 5 / 10 points
3. Self-study#2 (creating presentations of the studied topic): 12 / 20 points
4. ISelf-study #3 (writing an essay on the studied topic): 10 / 15 points
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of assimilation
material from the entire educational course. The total grade for the semester consists of points,
received for classroom work (oral reports, additions and participation in discussions on
seminars) and for Self-study (work with primary source texts, creating presentations,
essay writing). All types of work for the semester have as a result:
- in the maximum dimension of 80 points
- a minimum of 48 points
Final control work in written form - 12 / 20 points
