Course content
In the process of studying the discipline, current data on the practical application of viruses are considered. The idea of viruses as model objects is used, which are used in studies of the structure and mechanisms of functioning of living things. Possibilities of using viruses in the fight against pathogens and pests are revealed. Methods of obtaining biological preparations based on viruses are mastered. The importance of viruses in biotechnology is highlighted. This discipline enriches the theory with new facts and sets it tasks that are determined by the needs of society. The development of applied virology is associated with solving global problems of mankind - control of pathogens and pests through viruses, treatment of genetic and cancer diseases, development of tools for diagnosis and prevention of diseases.
