Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: basics of general microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology. 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of general microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, navigate in modern methods of microbiology and molecular biology. 3. Have basic skills in processing scientific literature, problem solving, bioinformatics analysis and data analysis, work with materials and equipment used in the microbiological laboratory.
Course content
The subject of study of the discipline are the main metabolic processes of aerobic and anaerobic chemoorganotrophic, hemolitotrophic and phototrophic microorganisms: basic methods of energy production, mechanisms of electron production, processes of decomposition and synthesis of substances by microorganisms, ways of their regulation in a microbial cell, basic enzymes and enzyme complexes that transport and transform substances in a bacterial cell. Attention is paid to the use of modern approaches to metabolomics for the reconstruction of metabolic networks of microbial cells.
