Learning outcomes
1.1 Know the basic methods of analysis of non-numerical (textual and visual) data and the possibility of their application in sociology. 1.2 Know the process of planning the analysis of non-numerical data when conducting sociological research with a qualitative or mixed type of design. 1.3 Know the professional and ethical standards in the analysis of non-numerical data in sociological research. 2.1 Choose the best methods of analysis of non-numerical data in accordance with the objectives and object of study. 2.2 Process, analyze and meaningfully interpret non-numerical (textual and visual) data.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic principles of sociological research with qualitative design and methods of collecting non-numerical data. 2. Be able to prepare a program of sociological research. 3. Have the skills to work with English-language scientific literature.
Course content
I. Analytical strategies for working with non-numerical data in sociology. 1. Introduction. Theoretical and methodological principles of non-numerical data analysis methods. 2. Modern methods of analysis of non-numerical data. 3. Ethics of working with non-numerical data. 4. Planning the analysis of non-numerical data and the choice of methods in accordance with the objectives and object of study. ІІ. Processing procedures and methods of analysis of non-numerical data. 5. Processing and analysis of non-numerical data. 6. Interpretation of non-numerical data and report preparation.

1. CW 1 (written practical tasks of group work) with topics 1-4, LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 1.3, LR 2.1 = 30 points / 18 points. 2. CW 2 (individual research project on the analysis of non-numerical data and presentation of analysis results) on topics 5-6, LR 1.1, LR 2.1, LR 2.2 = 30 points / 18 points. final assessment: Exam LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 1.3, LR 2.1, = 40 points / 24 points
