Learning outcomes
Know the main stages of development and features of sociological theory and sociological research in Ukraine and the world
Know the specifics of the classical stage of formation of sociology and its main representatives
Be able to work with bibliography and primary sources
Be able to analyze, summarize, make a comparative description of personalities, ideas and eras
Be able to apply the concepts and provisions of sociological theories of the ХІХ-early ХХ century for the analysis of modern society
Be able to identify the main problems and specifics of the formation of modern Ukrainian sociological thought

Course content
History of sociology as a science. The main stages and directions of development of knowledge about man and society. The occurrence and development of sociology in the ХІХ century. Sociological concept of O. Comte. Sociological naturalism. Historical materialism of K. Marx and F. Engels as a theory of society. Psychological direction in the sociology of the XIX century. German formal sociology.
Sociology of E. Durkheim. Sociology of M. Weber. Sociology of V. Pareto. Chicago School of Sociology
Socio-cultural and general humanitarian principles of development of sociological thought in Ukraine. Personalities and directions of development of sociological thought in Ukraine in the XIX century.
Sociological concept of M. Hrushevsky. Sociology of politics V. Lypynsky's . Sociological system of M. Shapoval. Sociology in Soviet Ukraine. Sociology in independent Ukraine: current status and prospects
