Be able to: work independently with scientific literature, write analytical written works on the subject, analyze the peculiarities of the development of sociological science in the historical context and at the present stage.

Course content
The discipline "Introduction to the specialty" involves students' mastery of professional topics and issues, which include issues of formation of sociology as a science, its research specifics and features of its thematic development. Leading cognitive orientations in sociology, basic components and tools of sociological cognition are determined: sociological theory, methods, empirical sociological research, social technologies. The subject of the discipline "Introduction to the specialty" involves the study of the categorical and conceptual apparatus of sociology, the main stages of its subject formation, the formation of conceptual and theoretical ideas, the structure of sociological knowledge and skills of its study and operational assimilation.

Assessment methods and criteria
- semester assessment:
1. active work in seminars - 30/15 points
2. performance of control works - 20/14 points (2 works on 10 maximum or 7 minimum points for everyone)
3. autobiography - 10/7 points
- final assessment: written exam (ticket contains two questions) - 40 points (20 maximum points or 12 minimum points for each question of the ticket). The minimum score for passing the exam (overall positive grade) is 24 points.
