Learning outcomes
1.1 Know the features of sociology as a science, its social functions. 1.2 Know the possibilities and limits of sociological knowledge and social technologies. 2.1 To be able to work independently with scientific literature, to write analytical written works from the course. 2.2 Be able to analyze the peculiarities of the development of sociological science in the historical context and at the present stage. 4.1 Carry out independent analytical, research and exploration activities.

1. Be able to work with scientific literature and primary sources. 2. Carry out individual analytical and exploratory activities.
Course content
1. Sociology and society: features of formation and development of knowledge concerning the organization of collective life of people. 2. Sociology as a science. 3. The specifics of sociological research of social phenomena and processes. The relationship of sociology with other sciences of society and man. 4. Cognitive and practical functions of sociology. The role of sociology in the development of Ukrainian society. 5. Sociology as a profession. 6. Features of the main areas of professional activity of sociologists and the problems of their employment in Ukraine. 7. Social responsibility, professional ethics and risks of professional activity of sociologists. 8. Specifics of sociological education and educational levels of professional training of sociologists. 9. Social technologies as a direction of professional activity of sociologists. 10. Features of professional training of sociologists-technologists. 11. Biographical features of the life of the future sociologist.
