Course content
The discipline is a basic cytological discipline that highlights the principles of structural-functional and molecular organization of biological membranes. The mechanisms of intercellular interactions with the participation of membranes are studied; the role of the membrane in the processes of prokaryotic DNA replication, biosynthesis, processing and secretion of proteins, bioenergetic processes and the functioning of hormonal response systems. Membrane functions related to intercellular contacts and interactions, transmit information through conformational changes of membrane components, catalyze transmembrane reactions, form multienzyme complexes in the membrane plane, which increases the efficiency of the whole process. Membranes play a major role in both the structural organization and functioning of all cells. The main function of membranes is to limit cells and organelles from their environment.
