Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To understand the main problems of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Persian fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Iran and Ukraine. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, liter ry and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “Lingual country studies of Iran”, “Introduction to Persian Philology”, “Oral and ancient literature of Iran” ; knowledge of the Persian language at the intermediate level sufficient for reading and analyzing medieval literary works.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the development of the literary process on the territory of the Persian-speaking world from the period of the Arab conquest and the birth of Persian classical literature and its existence in the Middle Ages; to give them an idea of the main patterns of the formation and historical development of Persian classical literature in the context of literatures of the Near and Middle East. The discipline is the second part of the complex discipline "History of Persian Literature" and has a theoretical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of the students involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries, and tasks of translating fragments of literary works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, reports and presentations / precis – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) to answer two theoretical questions; 2) to translate and analyze a fragment of a literary work. Students, who totally scored less than 36 points during the semester, may not participate in the exam.
